New York Fashion week 2016, came and went; kicking off with pre-fashion events for industry and press only from February 10-16th. The main fashion shows began Valentine’s Day and ended February 19th. As usual, New York Fashion week was a hot ticket! The elite was in attendance to witness the new fashions. The word traveled rapidly about the lovely actress Blake Lively, who along with others in the front row refused to uncross their legs once the show started as mentioned in the Page Six article, “Blake Lively told to uncross her legs at Fashion Week Show.”
Michael Kors show, however, went off without a hitch even with the Kardashians’ sister Kendall Jenner walking and the crossed legs in the front row (Supposedly it’s an eye sore & causes shadows in photos).
The fashion extravaganza’s next stop, London, to continue abroad for fashion lovers, celebrities, and socialites to enjoy the festivities and shows. Top Designers, their teams, and the chosen top models flaunted the latest fashion trends for the upcoming seasons. February 19-23rd, Englanders and those visiting were captivated by the styles and participated in the after parties festivities. The same goes for London’s Fashion Week; spectacular shows and rave reviews.
London passed the baton to Milan; February 24-March1. As mentioned in the article, “Moschino Sends a Model down the Runway Wearing an Actual Chandelier” by James Cave; the designer for Moschino, Jeremy Scott’s fashions consists of scorched dresses, veils, and gowns. However, the most memorable gown was accented with an actual chandelier! (HuffingtonPost.com)
Lastly, but not definitely not least, Fashion Week will end in Paris March 9, 2016. The excitement continues and Paris fashion lovers now are enjoying designers’ shows and events. Those fortunate to attend will see styles ranging from androgynist suits, bright colored suits, flowy long gowns, short upscale dresses, and stylish attire for men. The article, “Paris Fashion week: Vivienne Westwood Talks Buying Less, Choosing Well” by Rhonda Richford, states Westwood found the perfect location after a ten-year search in Paris for a showroom and store. A cocktail reception revealed the showroom space and the store will debut in April. The designer’s line displayed many two-piece unisex ensembles. Also, the article provided insight on Westwood’s thoughts pertaining what’s in her closet; “I try not to buy any more clothes, and just borrow them every now and again. You have to keep wearing what you have. Buy less, choose well,” Westwood told Pret-a-Reporter. Celebrity sightings are common for any Fashion Week location and they were present for the Chanel show. The article, “Inside Chanel’s Front Row Experience in Paris,” by Rhonda Richford, states Jada Pinkett-Smith, Willow Smith, Pharrell Williams and his wife Helen Lasichanh were seated on the front row. Also announced, Willow Smith is the new Chanel Ambassador; Smith shared her news on Instagram striking a pose with designer Karl Lagerfeld. The article, “Willow Smith is Officially a Chanel Girl,” by Sam Reed, shows a photo of Smith wearing Chanel head to toe; Smith’s responsibilities are to sit in her reserved front row chair in the designer’s cloth!
Karl Lagerfeld’s fashions were accented with arm and neck candy (an abundance of accessories); chunky bracelets, layers of pearl necklaces, long socks, scarves, and hats. Lagerfeld ended the show by taking a bow and walking with Hudson Kroenig, his 7-year-old godson, who was dapper wearing a plaid blazer with shades of gray, light gray skinny jeans, and fancy high top sneakers (three stripes; Adidas?). A great way to end the show!
